Job Description
Each year, Lancaster University students have the opportunity to study abroad for a year or a semester at one of the University’s 80+ partners. A system is required to allocate the agreed number of places at each partner to departments using a system with an optimal distribution and minimal user intervention.
Students wanting to study abroad then choose their preferred destinations and submit them in rank order. The system would automatically allocate student preferences to partners, with the system having the capability to be adjusted manually as required. A new system was trialed in January 2019 and following feedback from stakeholders, additional features need to be implemented as per specifications.
The successful applicant will:
  • Translate the identified user requirements into implemented code, to satisfy these requirements.
  • Demonstrate the working by constructing test cases, and demonstrate that the test cases are passed without breaking existing functionality. The work will involve UI updates as well as core logic updates.
  • Interact with the relevant stakeholders through meetings.
Person specification:
  • Experience in creating browser based webapps using JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
  • An understanding of jQuery is essential.

Pay rate: £11.60 + £1.40 holiday pay = £13.00 per hour

Working pattern: 0.8 FTE (Full Time Equivalent), working hours are negotiable. This placement will ideally start on 3rd June 2019 and will run until 10th August 2019.

Interview date: Interviews will take place during the week commencing 6th May 2019.
