Job Description

Hours: 15-20+ hours per week to be worked flexibly 
Pay: £8.21 + holiday pay = £9.20 per hour 
Placement Length:         140 hours over 9 weeks
Placement Start: ASAP

The Company
Midland Fish Company Limited are a family run business who process fish. They hand fillet and then use machines to skin the fillets. Throughout the process they constantly have fresh water flowing, the whole fish is tipped in to filleting benches and from there processed.

The machines used for the process are run with a constant supply of water, 3 of these machines run for 8 hours a day. The company are currently using approximately 5000 m3 of water per month, around 65% of this is from the filleting benches, once full the overflow of water is just soaked away into the factory drains.

The project / placement
The aim of the project would be assistance to help design a system that runs alongside the drains and collects then filters the water before being recycled.

Expected activities of the placement are:
  • Aiding with product research
  • Assisting with the design of the new product
  • Project Management
  • Helping to problem solve

Person Specification:

  • An individual from an engineering, science or technology background would be beneficial but not essential
  • Strong research skills
  • Someone who is highly motivated and a self starter
  • Ability to work to a dead line
  • Report writing ability
  • Excellent communicator

Flexible working to deliver 15+ hours per week. Remote working with regular communication of activities and progress update with company.
