Job Description
Lancaster University's Physics department is seeking an administrative assistant to help with organising and running the 2019 National Astronomy Meeting. This conference will be held on Lancaster University's campus from 30th June - 4th July 2019, and 400-500 people are expected to attend.
 
Your duties would include:
  • Working with the conference organisers, Lancaster Conferences and external stakeholders on logistics and space planning.
  • Providing support to delegates before and during the conference.
 
Working pattern: There is some flexibility in the working hours, but the total work should be equivalent to 4 months full-time (where full time would be 36.5 hours per week), starting 11th March 2019. We would be happy to discuss arrangements for working shorter daily hours over a longer period. 
 
Pay rate: £10.08 + £1.22 holiday pay = £11.30 per hour

Person specification:
  • Good communication skills (essential)
  • Good organisational skills (essential)
  • Good basic IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (essential)
  • Experience of organising events (desirable)
