Job Description
The Global Recruitment Office (GRO) are looking to recruit a graduate intern to carry out research to help improve the delivery of University open days.
This internship is part of the Graduate Jobs Programme, which aims to provide valuable work experience and skills to recent graduates, to help kick-start your career! This opportunity is open only to graduates of Lancaster University who completed their undergraduate degree in 2018.
Pay rate: £19,202 pro rata (£10.08 per hour + £1.22 holiday pay = £11.30 per hour)
Working Pattern: Full time but negotiable
Placement length: 8-12 weeks, preferably starting in January
Graduate Jobs Programme projects have been carefully scoped to give you some valuable work experience in a large world-class award winning organisation, help build your network, and develop new skills that will stand you in good stead for your next steps and ongoing career success.
As part of GRO’s overhaul of University open day strategy, it was noted that the Students’ Union’s activities at open days are under-resourced and need revising. The Students’ Union are now embarking on a new strategy. The role of the intern will be to support the development of a new strategy for open days, by reviewing the current activities of the Students Union at open days, and researching the activities that are undertaken at other universities.
This research will feed directly into the success of future open days, by forming the basis of a report that will inform new Students’ Union strategy at open days. Following agreement of the strategy, the graduate intern will then start to plan for the delivery of open day activities in the summer months.
The desired outcome of this project will be:
  • A report including recommendations for new Student Union open day strategy.
  • The development of business case and proposal for the new strategy.
  • The outline event plan for the delivery of the new strategy at open days.

Skill and experience that you will develop during this project:

  • Team work
  • Project Management
  • Event preparation
  • Market Research
  • Stakeholder Engagement

Skills required for this project:

  • Experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A basic understanding of the Lancaster University Students’ Union
  • Experience of desk-based research (desirable)
