Job Description
 Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) are looking for a graduate intern to help improve the communication of their careers, employability and extra-curricular opportunities, and work with alumni.
 
This internship is part of the Graduate Jobs Programme, which aims to provide valuable work experience and skills to recent graduates, to help kick-start your career! This opportunity is open only to graduates of Lancaster University who completed their undergraduate degree in 2018.
 
Pay rate: £19,202 pro rata (£10.08 per hour + £1.22 holiday pay = £11.30 per hour)
Working Pattern: Full time but negotiable
Placement length: 8-12 weeks, preferably starting in January

LEC currently communicate with students and alumni via a variety of platforms, including:
  • In-lecture announcements in large lectures of upcoming events
  • Careers poster board, for hard copy posters
  • Foyer TV screens
  • Email
  • Beyond LEC facebook page
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Beyond LEC Wordpress site
  • Careers sections on each of the four undergraduate year-group Moodle pages

LEC feel that the clarity and efficiency of their communications, and their interfaces withother activities within the department (teaching admin, admissions, researchpromotion etc.) could be improvedThey would like help with reviewing their communication channels, and creating and implementing new ideas to make their communications more efficient, effective, flexible, and responsive to students and alumni.

The desired outcome of this project is an efficient and effective array of communications modes for all extra-curricular opportunities, careers, employability and alumni information, for all students in LEC (1st year UG to PGR).

  • Managing and effecting change
  • Working across different teams to arrive at mutually optimal outcomes
  • Use of social media in a professional context
  • Online platform development

Skills required for this project:

  • Evidence of experience in working with a range of groups of people with different needs and targets.
