Job Description
The Global Recruitment Office is recruiting Student Ambassadors to cover a wide range countries to promote and enhance the reputation of Lancaster University to prospective students.

Our International Student Ambassadors also provide dedicated support to students who have made an enquiry, application or are holding an offer at Lancaster University.

You must be registered as a current student of Lancaster University to apply for the job and MUST be available for the full 2018/19 academic year.

Pay Rate: £7.94 + £0.96= £8.90 per hour

Hours: Minimum 1 hour per week (hours during term and vacations if possible)

 

Key Dates:

  • Interviews: Week commencing 5th November
  • Training: 12th November (5pm – 8pm) - There will be an optional social after the training session from 8pm to 10pm which will include food and games.
  • Start: Week commencing 19th November

 

Job Purpose:

  • To promote and enhance the reputation of Lancaster University to prospective students and other parties
  • To provide dedicated support to students who have made an application and who are holding an offer of study at Lancaster University.

 

Main Duties Include:

  • To contact prospective Lancaster students (generally offer holders) by email, telephone and social media platforms, and to respond to queries to provide information about Lancaster University and life and study in the UK from an international student perspective
  • To carry out campus tours for prospective students, their families and other international visitors.
  • To assist with on-campus events to support the student recruitment process. E.g. meeting visitors from overseas partner universities, attending on-campus meetings, fairs, focus groups & conferences, sharing country-specific market intelligence with the Global Recruitment Office Staff.
  • To assist with in-country activities whilst back in home country. E.g. visiting schools/universities to give talks & presentations, attending overseas recruitment fairs, alumni and pre-departure events
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the International Office, including office-based administrative work, freight packing, translation & interpretation work.

 

Person Specification:

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  2. Good level of self-motivation and the ability to use initiative and work independently
  3. Ability to work accurately under pressure both independently and as part of a team
  4. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Email) and familiarity with engaging via social media platforms
  5. Have knowledge and be a fluent speaker of the country/region you are applying for.
