Title:       Students’ Union Graphic Designer

Hours:    Approx 7.5 hours per term week with possible increased or reduced hours. Additional hours potentially available during vacation periods.

Pay:        £7.50 per hour + holiday pay = £8.41 total per hour


Lancaster University Students' Union is looking for a part-time graphic designer to work as part of its busy communications department.

We're looking for a talented, enthusiastic and quick-working all-rounder with skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign to work approximately 7.5 hours a week during term time, with the potential for additional hours during vacation periods (exact hours may vary depending on workloads).

Working alongside our graphic designer, you'll work on a variety of promotional materials covering every aspect of the work of the students' union - including our commercial services, our work to support student activities and our big events. An interest in and demonstrable aptitude for nightclub/event design is desirable.

This is a great opportunity to build your design portfolio and develop new skills under the guidance of an experienced professional designer. Hourly rate for the position (including holiday pay) is £8.41. 

Purpose of Job

To assist with the production and ordering of design material for use in print and online.

Major Duties:

  1. Work to briefs from colleagues to produce graphic design materials consistent with house style

  2. Contribute ideas for design concepts

  3. Collaborate with staff from various Union departments to produce effective marketing and promotion materials
