Job Description

Are you an aspiring software developer? The Innovation and Partnering team in ISS are looking for a number of talented students to support their development!

Title:                   ITPI Developer

Department:      ISS

Pay:                    £10.03 per hour (including holiday pay)

Period:              ASAP to April 2018

Hours:               Part-time, up to 14 hours per week 

                           Flexible shifts, dependent on University commitments

Role:

To develop software for use within the ITPI team, including work on the iLancaster app, utilizing appropriate technologies and development techniques.

Major Duties:

  • To carry out design, development, testing and support of software delivered via the Mobile Lancaster software framework, web services and other web technologies.

  • To provide technical guidance, support and input to the running of the mobile Lancaster service.

  • Support the ITPI team in other duties/activates as appropriate, and support the delivery of iLancaster and other web applications.

Person Specification

Essential

  1. Working towards a degree (or equivalent) in a computer related discipline
  2. Experience of programming in HTML CSS3 / LESS  and JQuery in a range of scenarios
  3. Ability to work within a team, and under own initiative
  4. Experience of achieving clear goals
  5. Ability to plan, organise and solve complex problems

Desirable

One or more of the following; please make experience of these extremely clear on your application.

  1. Experience in Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator etc.), Sketch, Invision or similar prototype tool
  2. Experience of Ruby, and Ruby on rails
  3. Experience of development in C# Desirable Application Form
  4. Experience of Python
  5. Experience of PHP and WordPress (or equivalent)
  6. Linux server experience (ideally, Ubuntu)
  7. Experience with UX modelling techniques such as case diagrams, use-case descriptions
  8. A good understanding of website design and responsive UI and common frameworks, Foundation, Bootstrap
