Job Description

Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) is currently recruiting student ambassadors / tour guides to support undergraduate recruitment and outreach events for the academic year 2017/18 (including vacation periods).  You must be available for the September open days initially- Saturday 2nd September and Friday 22nd September.

Prior experience as a tour guide is desired; however candidates with involvement in student societies or work experience will be considered.  These positions are only open to LICA undergraduate major and combined students. 

Duties:

  • Representing LICA at recruitment & outreach events.
  • Providing a friendly and approachable welcome to prospective students / parents / teachers
  • Talking to prospective students / parents / teachers about life at LICA.
  • Giving tours of the LICA building, facilities and Lancaster Arts with confidence to talk about the broad spectrum of LICA disciplines.
  • Assisting with the set-up and organisation of recruitment & outreach events, supporting LICA’s UG Admissions & Recruitment Co-ordinator.  
  • Setting out and clearing away chairs and tables for Visit Days / Open Days.
  • Attending subject talks and answering questions from students / parents / teachers.
  • Supporting LICA’s Admissions Tutors with applicant workshops, talks and showcases.

Person Specification:

You must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Enthusiasm for life at LICA with the confidence to talk to prospective students / parents / teachers.
  • Excellent command of the English Language (spoken).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to talk to large tour groups. 
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work to defined schedules.
  • A friendly approach to dealing with prospective students / parents / teachers.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Utmost reliability and punctuality
