Job Title: ER International Student Ambassador 26/17

Salary: £12.71 basic rate plus £1.53 holiday pay (£14.24 per hour)

Department: External Relations (ER)

Directly responsible to: International Recruitment & Events Coordinator

Start Date: 14th November 2026

End Date: 30th September 2027

Interview: 1-1 interviews will be held on Thursday 29th & Friday 30th October.

Location: You will be based on campus, with optional opportunities to travel across the UK to support various student recruitment events, as part of the wider ER Student Ambassador community.

Closing Date: Thursday 22nd October 2026

 

About the Role

As an International Student Ambassador, you will have the exciting opportunity to represent our institution, engage with prospective overseas students, and be a vital part of our student ambassador community. Your responsibilities will include sharing your personal experiences and journeys to studying at Lancaster with offer holders, via a range of platforms. If successfully appointed as an International Student Ambassador, you will also automatically join our wider ER Student Ambassador community. This will give you access to further shift opportunities on campus and beyond, such as leading campus tours, participating in student recruitment events, and providing valuable insights to prospective students and guests. This role is perfect for enthusiastic and motivated students who are passionate about Lancaster University and eager to inspire others. You will be joining the External Relations (ER) Events team, who lead activities such as the Open Days, Offer Holder Events, International Student Arrivals, Campus Tours and online outreach activities. There are also opportunities to work with other departments across the University on an ad-hoc basis.

Full training in all aspects of the role will be provided.

 

Successful candidates must be available to:

  • Attend a mandatory general ER Student Ambassador training session on Saturday 14th November, 09:00-15:00.
  • Attend a mandatory International Student Ambassador session on Wednesday 18th November, 12:00-13:30 OR Friday 20th November, 12:00-13:30.

Job Description

  • Represent Lancaster University to the highest possible standard, engage with prospective students, and be a vital part of our campus community.
  • Share positive experiences and enthusiasm for Higher Education and Lancaster University, specifically in your communications with international offer holders, applicants and visitors, and at events and activities throughout the year.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at events.
  • Answer any questions that offer holders and visitors may have professionally and positively and share personal experiences of life in Lancaster.
  • Have good knowledge of Lancaster University and be able to share this knowledge with offer holders, applicants and visitors.
  • Communicate and engage with offer holders and applicants via a range of platforms, including email, Teams, Unibuddy and social media.
  • Support the International Recruitment and Marketing teams by providing key market insights and the creation of region-specific content/marketing materials. 
  • Support the wider ER Student Ambassador community by assisting with on-campus student recruitment events and activities, e.g. Open Days; Offer Holder Events, Overseas Agent/Fam visits.
  • Work as part of a team and lead by example, delivering consistently good service.
  • Attend compulsory training and briefing sessions where required.
  • Consistently provide great quality campus tours to prospective students and their guests (Optional)
  • Support the Outreach team at events such as HE Fairs, UCAS Fairs and School Talks (Optional).
  • Support any online events including webinars and live stream tours (Optional).
  • Consistently provide high-quality campus tours to prospective students and their guests (Optional)
  • Assist with any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Events and Recruitment and Admissions teams.

Person Specification

Education
  • You must be registered as a current Lancaster University degree student (Essential)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent use of initiative, able to solve problems and think creatively.
