Eligibility 

This micro internship is for 30 hours in total (including 4 hours for training) and is aimed at students who have limited professional work experience and are looking for an opportunity that supports them to develop their employability skills. 

To apply for this micro internship, students must be part of GROW Your Future. 

GROW Your Future is an opt-in scheme for UK undergraduates and postgraduate taught students who also meet specific Widening Participation criteria, e.g. students who are: 

  • first in their family to go to university; 

  • in receipt of a Lancaster Bursary; 

  • received free school meals  

  • over 21 when they start their first undergraduate degree; 

  • Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic; 

  • disabled (including learning disabilities, physical or mental health conditions); 

  • care leavers or have caring responsibilities, or estranged from family 

  • a refugee or asylum seeker, from a gypsy or Traveller community, or from a military family

As stated above, the GROW Your Future Micro Internship Scheme aims to support students with limited professional work experience, therefore priority will be given to students who meet this criteria. This includes students who may have already completed a GYF micro internship.  

Role Overview 

You’ll join the International Marketing team, which helps promote Lancaster University to students around the world. The team works on a range of campaigns, content and projects across international student recruitment, study abroad, and the global campus network.

It’s designed to give you a chance to get involved, learn some new skills and contribute to some real marketing activity, with support from the team along the way.

Start Date: 2 November 2026
End Date: 30 January 2027
Working Pattern: Flexible, ~8 hours/week
Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

We’ll tailor the internship towards your skills and what you’d like to get out of it.

  • Support the International Marketing team with day-to-day marketing activities.
  • Help create and adapt content for international audiences, including social media, web and email.
  • Assist with researching international markets, audiences and competitor activity.
  • Help gather information and ideas for international marketing campaigns.
  • Support the organisation of campaign materials, content and marketing activity.
  • Learn about how marketing works in a large organisation and gain practical experience of working in a professional marketing team.

As this internship is aimed at students who do not have prior professional work experience, please draw upon examples from extracurricular activities, hobbies, interests, volunteering and part-time work in your CV and cover letter.

No previous marketing or professional work experience is required as we’re more interested in your enthusiasm, ideas and willingness to learn.
