Become a Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Student Ambassador! We are now recruiting for our 2026/27 Student Ambassadors and are inviting all current Postgraduate Students to apply to join our team. 

Job Title: Student Ambassador (Faculty of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences) 

Salary: £12.21 plus £1.47 holiday pay (£13.68 per hour) 

Department: Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences 

Directly responsible to: FHASS Events Team, Student Staff Manager 

Start Date: 01 December 2026 

End Date: 31 October 2027 

Interview: Interviews are to be held during the week xx November 2026.  

Location: You will be based on campus, with potential optional opportunities to travel across the UK to various events.

About the Role 

As a Student Ambassador, you will join our ambassador community and will have exciting opportunities to represent postgraduate study to prospective students. Your responsibilities will include sharing your personal experiences of postgraduate study at Lancaster, leading campus tours, showcasing discipline specific resources and facilities, participating in in-person and online events, and providing valuable insights to prospective postgraduate students and guests. This role is perfect for enthusiastic and motivated students who are passionate about their programme of study, about their discipline and about the university university, and keen to impart this passion to inspire others. In return you’ll enhance your communication and leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and leave a lasting impact. 

You will be joining the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (FHASS) events team, who lead a range of student recruitment activities including Open Day events (in-person and online), Offer Holder Events, personalised visits, Campus Tours and online outreach activities. Therein you will work closely with department academic colleagues and other central University teams on an ad-hoc basis.  

This role is open to postgraduates studying any subject within FHASS and we encourage applications from postgraduate students at all levels (PhD; MA; MSc; PgDip; PgCert), including those undertaking full or part-time study.

Job Description

 

  • Represent your programme of study, subject area, School and Lancaster.

     

  • University to the highest possible standard, engage with prospective students, and be a vital part of our campus community.

     

  • Share positive experiences and enthusiasm for Higher Education and Lancaster University, specifically at events and activities throughout the year.

     

  • Act as an Ambassador for your subject, School and the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at events.

     

  • Answer any questions that visitors may have professionally and positively, and share personal experiences of your studies and life in Lancaster.

     

  • Have good knowledge of Lancaster University and be able to share this knowledge with visitors.

     

  • Support and assist at events where required, e.g. Open Days; Offer Holder Events, with subject talks, taster sessions, set up and set down of equipment for each event.

  • Work as part of a team and lead by example, delivering consistently good service.

     

  • Attend compulsory training and briefing sessions where required.

     

  • Assist with any other duties as may reasonably be required by the recruitment and events team 

Person Specification


Education 

You must be registered as a current postgraduate student studying within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences  (Essential)

  • Comfortable with delivering presentations and public speaking, including delivering presentations via online platforms

  • Excellent knowledge of Lancaster University including campus, systems, facilities and student life
