Role & Department Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to work within the vibrant, energetic and bustling People and Organisational Effectiveness division. A perfect environment for anyone looking for an opportunity to learn new skills. 

You will work with the Service Excellence Team to deliver excellent customer service both to internal colleagues and wider University staff. You will answer queries as first point of contact and provide a triage system to deliver service excellence. You will work across 8 busy teams of highly dedicated HR professionals to assist them in answering general inquiries. The work will be variedand you will acquire a broad range of skills and experiences.

Weekly hours: 36.5 per week
 
Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide a first point of contact for the division and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Provide a support role for the team.
  • Be part of a rota to cover reception duties, including physical campus presence.
  • Triage incoming emails.
  • Production of correspondence using pre-approved templates including University cards, Employment and Bank letters.
  • Work with HR systems and databases.
  • Liaise with other internal services as appropriate e.g. IT, facilities etc.
  • Assist different teams at peak times when extra resource is required.
  • Any other duty as may reasonably be required by the HR Divisional Officer/Development Manager.

Person Specification

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
 
  •  Knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to learn new tasks.
  • Ability to complete tasks and prioritise work.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • A keen and positive approach to working in a team and have a flexible approach to work.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately face to face, by telephone and in writing.
