UG Student Ambassador – Job advert 2026 

Are you an enthusiastic individual willing to represent Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) and its brand.  

The LUMS Recruitment and Conversion team are looking for friendly, reliable, engaging individuals to join the LUMS Student Ambassador Team.   

Our Ambassadors represent Lancaster University Management School and its degree programme at recruitment events such as Open Days, Webinars, Unibuddy, Offer Holder Events, and campus tours.  There is also the opportunity to get involved in school visits.  Other work includes administrative support for the team, such as helping with mail-outs, and participating in calling campaigns.   

Above all, we are looking for highly motivated people who are passionate about Lancaster and want to share their stories and experiences with prospective students.  

Being a LUMS Ambassador fits around academic study, as the hours are very flexible. You choose when and how much you want to get involved in the work available.   

Being part of the LUMS Ambassador Programme will allow you to develop professionally and personally. You will also develop transferable skills that will boost your employability when you graduate, thereby enhancing your CV. Training will be provided.

Pay Rate:  £12.71 per hour + £1.53 holiday pay

Start Date:  7th December 2026

End Date:  31st October

Job Description

LUMS Student Ambassadors – Job Description  

 Main duties:

    1. Working at events where required e.g. Open Days; Offer Holder Events; HE fairs; webinars, student life talks, one-to-one meetings with offer holders.
    2.  Sharing positive experiences of, and enthusiasm for, Lancaster University and LUMS in particular, at events and activities throughout the year; 
    3.  Providing high-quality campus tours to prospective students and their parents, answering any questions they may have and sharing your personal experiences of life in Lancaster; 
    4.  Contacting prospective students by email, telephone and social media platforms (as directed to by the Recruitment and Conversion Team) to respond to queries and provide information about LUMS. 
    5.  Contributing to content generation to support student recruitment for use in newsletters, website and social media. 
    6.  Assisting with administrative duties in the office, for example with mailouts. 

 

You will not be expected to work all types of shifts that we offer. This will depend on your choice and our business needs.  

Person Specification

Who are we looking for?  

The ideal candidate:  

    1. Must be a current Lancaster University Management School undergraduate student.  
    2. Must be able and willing to act as an Ambassador for the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at events. 
    3.  Has some knowledge of Lancaster University, including the campus, systems, facilities and student life. 
    4.  Has excellent communication skills – you might be asked to speak on the phone, write a blog post or deliver a presentation. Speaking additional languages is an asset. 
    5.  Must be reliable, punctual and with a good level of self-motivation. 
    6.  Has the ability to use initiative, work independently and as part of a team. 
    7.  Can work under pressure and in a variety of situations.  
    8.  Has a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and email. 
    9.  Has strong organisational and time management skills. 
    10.  Is willing to develop presentation and public speaking skills. 
    11.  Has an engaging personality and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and ages in a professional manner. 
    12.  Has the ability to solve problems and think creatively. 
    13.  Experience of working in a customer-facing environment and providing excellent customer service, advice and guidance is desirable.
