Role & Department Overview

We are looking for undergraduate and postgraduate students to join the Lancaster Campus Life social media team. The successful candidates will highlight the student experience and create content promoting the campus community and facilities available on campus, including sports facilities, on-campus accommodation and food and drink outlets,

We’re looking to work with the best content creators who keep up to date with trends in digital storytelling and can use this to provide current students with content to enhance their experience on campus.

With a focus on life and facilities on campus, the content creators will communicate and engage with our market on Instagram, support student experience, engagement across campus and ultimately boost sales.

Pay Rate: £12.38 per hour + £1.49 holiday pay

Start Date: 28th September 2026

End Date: 20th December 2026

Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Create social media content for various different accounts under the Campus Life umbrella, to add value to the student experience. To view examples of the content you will be creating, visit @lancsunicampuslife on Instagram.
  • Work under our social media brand guidelines.
  • Work with the Social Media and Promotions Coordinator to prioritise weekly content and ensure consistency across all content under the Lancaster Campus Life brand.
  • Identify digital opportunities and trends to boost sales and engagement through social media.
  • Schedule content and reply to messages, keeping in touch with facilities staff to ensure information is consistently correct.

How you’ll work 

  • You will work an average of 6 hours per week (during term time), creating content to promote the student experience on campus. This will include capturing photo and video footage at various locations and facilities around campus and editing footage to create engaging and creative social media content.
  • You will meet with the Social Media and Promotions Coordinator to discuss upcoming content and any pre-agreed briefs around promotional campaigns and events.
  • You will collaborate with the Lancaster Campus Life team by sharing all raw and edited content in Microsoft Teams, as well as sharing ideas and best practices in fortnightly team meetings with the Social Media and Promotions Coordinator.
  • Your content will focus more on engagement rather than showcasing products and facilities alone.
  •  During content shoots, you will work with facilities staff to identify any content needs.  

Person Specification

  • You are flexible and creative, and open to providing new ideas and insights into what current students enjoy.
  • You are passionate about promoting and improving the student experience on campus.
  • You are comfortable behind and in front of the camera and can engage a student audience.
  • You have experience creating digital content for Instagram, TikTok, and/or other social media platforms.
  • You have experience of content creation, from research, concept development, planning, and scheduling, to content capturing, editing, and distribution.
  • You can adapt your content style to align with the brand identity of different accounts and the promotional needs of different briefs.
