Role & Department Overview

This is an opportunity for a fixed-term internship for a Trade Association operating in the off-grid energy space, running from 6th July to 18th December.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience supporting Liquid Gas UK’s Public Affairs Manager during an exciting and fast-paced time for the Liquid Gas industry.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic administrative support
  • Assist in preparing detailed, evidenced-based responses to consultations and committee inquiries
  • Provide secretariat to the Public Affairs Strategy Group (PASG)
  • Create high-quality policy reports and briefings for membership
  • Carry out efficient horizon scanning for policy developments
  • Work alongside team members, public affairs agency and public relations agency colleagues to deliver clear policy messages to a wider audience
  • Engage our LPG and RLG Industry members in shaping policy and update them via the Liquid Gas UK newsletter, magazine and other outlets
  • Attend relevant meetings and events to support the Public Affairs Manager, as required

Person Specification

Key Attributes Required:

  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to understand implications of policy whilst being capable of delving into necessary detail to develop industry responses
  • Excellent communicator, turning complex information into straightforward communications, both verbally and written, for internal and external consumption
  • Enthusiastic and willing to become involved in wider trade association work

Experience:

Undergraduate Degree in related discipline (e.g., Public Policy, Politics, International Relations) – we will accept applications from final year students who have not yet graduated.
