Job Description

Academics working at Lancaster University engage in a rich and diverse range of activities focused around Teaching, Research and Engagement, and an opportunity exists in Lancaster Medical School to support data-capture work associated with these activities.

Within each part of the University managers work to ensure an equitable distribution of tasks and workload and in order to work towards this, it's important to capture the data describing the work that colleagues are doing in each of these three domains. Activities all have an allocation of time and this process involves colleagues confirming the activities they have undertaken, and then submitting that information. The data are used by the senior leadership to support the allocation of new tasks, or the reallocation of existing tasks, all with the goal of working towards an equitable distribution of work.

The data are captured using an Excel file which is populated by each colleague to indicate the activities they have undertaken, and formulae in the file determine the total time allocation used for each activity, for example all lectures delivered in a year, and hence the total time allocation used in all activities for each colleague.
