Role & Department Overview

Under the supervision of the Project Lead, Dr Delphine Grass, and working closely with CLs on the team, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Animals in Translation project which is based in Languages and Global Cultures in the School of Global Affairs.
 
Preferred Start Date: 25th May 2026
Expected End Date: 30th September 2026 (Non-Students limited to 12 Weeks)
Working Pattern: Variable (250 Hours in Total)
Location: On the Lancaster University Campus

Job Description

  • Contributing to the effective day-to-day running of the Animals in Translation project, including the organization of ad hoc meetings and monthly meetings between Lancaster University and NYU collaborators on the project, assisting with events, website and social media, and supporting ongoing delivery.
  •  Supporting the project team with administrative tasks, including planning meetings, arranging travel and overnight accommodation.
  •  Coordinating and supporting the facilitation of project meetings and events (e.g. workshops, seminars, conferences) including booking venues, catering, organising programmes and agendas, preparation of papers, minuting discussions, and dissemination of materials after the event.
  •  Assisting with production of documentation required for project management, dissemination of research findings, external engagement (including writing blogs and news to update the Animals in Translation website), and research impact supervised by Project Lead.
  •  Organising and maintaining project documentation, ensuring effective systems and access by the project team.
  •  Supporting and nurturing relationships with project partners and key stakeholders.
  •  Monitoring and updating the project website and other social media outlets with the support of Project Lead, including writing blog entries and updating the website with news content.
  •  Monitoring of the non-pay budget, raising purchase orders, travel claims and arranging for the payment of invoices.
  •  Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post, as reasonably required by the Project Lead. Where capacity allows, this may include providing support to associated research, impact, and engagement activities in other parts of the Department or Faculty.

Person Specification

  • Educated to (GCE) Advanced Level or equivalent
  • Experience of working in administrative roles
  • An interest in working to support the Animals in Translation project and an appropriate rationale for applying for this post
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience of liaising with partners or customers
  • Ability to work in a team, a flexible approach to work
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to present information in an accurate and appropriate way
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet competing demands
  • Demonstrable skills in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience of supporting the planning and delivery of successful events is desirable
  • Experience of supporting communication via websites and social mediais desirable
