Role & Department Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.  If you apply for this role the information within your application will be shared with the recruiting organisation.

Wiseward is an online language school agency. They are a bit like an online travel agency but for language schools and students. Wiseward work with, and are partners of, some of the very best language schools in the UK and Europe.  They believe that language learning can be a transformative experience that truly broadens horizons, opens minds and gives new perspectives.

Wiseward’s close relationships with language schools allow them to curate, design and deliver the best possible opportunities and experiences for students and teachers of foreign languages.

When Wiseward say students they mean anyone from 09 to 90 years of age who has a hunger to learn a new language and a passion for learning about new cultures and countries combined with a desire to be a better global citizen.

Wiseward understands the critical importance of a Social Media campaign to maintain a successful business. This internship builds on the excellent work and legacy of previous FHASS funded interns at Wiseward.

The key and core theme of this internship is to win new business and increase their revenue by building on the work that has already been done and creating a Social Plan that reflects this and builds upon it. There needs to be a clear strategy that further improves their social media profile.  As well as clear thinking of how this strategy will  drive new business to their website.

The successful applicant will need to show that they have a good grasp of Wiseward’s business and that they are able to demonstrate that they have a well thought through strategy to not only drive traffic to their website but convert new website traffic into actual bookings for courses.

It is important that the intern can clearly demonstrate that they not only have a feel for Wiseward’s website but that they can create a bespoke Social Media Plan for key segments of Wiseward’s market. Wiseward believes that their market segments are as follows:

The intern will have a ‘blank canvas’ to work with which will give them the opportunity to show case their social media  and marketing skills, their love of languages, the importance of understanding other cultures in the fractious world we live in as well as a clear understanding of the importance of a targeted and specific approach to each market segment.
