About the Role

As a PSE Student Ambassador, you will play a key role in representing Lancaster University’s Pre-sessional English Programmes and supporting new international students as they begin their academic journey. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your own PSE experience, help others settle into life in the UK, and contribute to a warm and welcoming community.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with welcome and induction activities, supporting orientation sessions, guiding students around campus, helping with social events, participating in online and in-person engagement activities, and offering insights into studying and living at Lancaster. You may also support communication with prospective students through platforms such as Unibuddy, helping to answer questions and share your experience of the Pre-sessional English Programme. In addition, there may be opportunities to contribute to marketing and promotional activities, including creating content or taking part in campaigns that showcase the PSE student experience.

We are looking for two friendly, enthusiastic, and proactive students who are passionate about helping others succeed on the PSE programme. If you are keen to develop your communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while making a positive impact, we encourage you to apply to become a PSE Student Ambassador.

You will be working closely with the PSE team, that delivers nine cohorts of both online and in-person courses designed to prepare international students for academic study. The team leads on the logistic for welcome and induction activities, academic skills and language development lectures and workshops, cultural and social events, and ongoing support to help students adjust to life at Lancaster and succeed throughout the programme.

This role is open to all previous PSE students, and we particularly encourage those progressing from one of Lancaster’s International Pathway programmes, such as the 2+2 or 3+1 routes, to apply. Full training for all aspects of the role will be provided.

Successful candidates must be:

  • A previous PSE student or Lancaster University International Pathway student (e.g. 2+2 or 3+1).

  • Available to attend the mandatory training session on Saturday 6th June, 9am-3pm.

  • Able to work at least 2 out of the 3 PSE Programmes arrival shifts that are held on Saturdays from July to September.
