The Faculty of Science and Technology at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint three full time fixed term Student Programmes Assistants. Working within the Faculty’s Education Services team, the role holder will support the assessment period being part of a collaborative professional services team delivering high quality administrative support to students and academic staff. The role holders will work within academic department teams, providing support where it is needed.

The ideal candidate for this role will take a collaborative approach, contributing to continuous improvement, problem solving and promoting consistency. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys a diverse workload and can adapt to working with a wide range of colleagues. Attention to detail will be key, as will the ability to develop positive, productive and supportive working relationships.

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour plus £1.53 holiday pay

Start Date: 27th April 2026

End Date: 24th July 2026

Interview Date: 20th April 2026

Job Description

To provide support across professional service teams within the Faculty of Science and Technology for the summer assessment period. To act as a point of contact for queries, and to support the academic quality and rigour of the assessment process.

Duties will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Checking exam scripts and ensuring that the marking process is carried out in a fair and rigorous manner.
  • Assisting with the setting up of arrangements for non- standard exam settings.
  • Transporting exam scripts from venue to the department.
  • Archiving of exams and coursework scripts
  • Scanning of exam scripts to send to external examiners
  • Alphabetizing of exam scripts
  • Assisting with the upload of marks
  • To undertake any other duties, and training appropriate to the grade
