 Role Overview

As part of its MEng undergraduate degree programmes, the School of Engineering delivers a core Level 7 module entitled “Industry linked group projects”. The module is 15 credits and supports the value of experiential learning with students working in teams on real-world problems. Students work on projects proposed, defined and guided by external organisations. These organisations vary and include businesses (small and large), third sector, local government and start-ups. For a number of years, we have asked participating external organisations to complete a feedback survey with a number of closed and open questions. These data go back to academic year 2020/21 but with a gap between 2022/23 and 2023/24 where we had a joint project with the Law School.

We have a need for a GROW Your Future intern to analyse this data. By the time the internship starts, we would expect to have approximately 60 responses. Data analysis would include identification of patterns over time as well as common themes and any differences. Highlighting the strengths of this form of engagement between external organisations and students is an important output, as is the identification of areas where improvements can be made. This is an especially important time, because of how these findings can contribute to the development of this part of our teaching and engagement post Curriculum Transformation Programme (CTP) implementation, which will happen in 2026/27. In order to support future recruitment of projects form external organisations, generating graphics to communicate findings would be expected, such as simple graphs, quotes or infographics.

Please note that the start and end date for this internship are flexible and the hiring manger will work with the successful student to agree on on a working schedule that fits around any other commitments they may have (e.g. exams and deadlines).
