Please note that this is a non-student role

Working closely with other members of the operational procurement team, you will provide a high level of support to our diverse academic and research departments. Your main role will be to undertake the order processing activity including understanding customer needs, processing requisitions and expediting deliveries.

Pay Rate: £12:71 basic rate £1.53 holiday pay
 

Preferred start date: 1st April 2026

Expected end date: Up to 12 weeks

Interview Date: TBC

Location: Remote and on campus

Hours per week: 20 hrs

You will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  You will be trained in procurement and will learn to provide procurement advice in accordance with the University's Financial and Procurement Regulations. You need to be a team player and be able to work with other colleagues.

Job Description

Provide general procurement advice, in accordance with the Financial and Procurement Regulations, adopting a professional customer service attitude.

Maintain the Supplier master file:

  • Validate data as necessary and update the supplier master file in accordance with the regulations regarding fraud
  • Contact suppliers and users for missing information

Purchase order processing:

  • Check validity of requests to purchase, requesting any additional necessary paperwork and refer any non-compliance which cannot be resolved
  • Determine whether the purchase should be made with a Procurement Card and action as appropriate.
  • Enter compliant requisitions and follow up approvals to ensure orders are generated
  • Expedite deliveries as required
  • Check that deliveries have been made and raise GRNs.
  • Investigate receipting/invoice queries
  • Liaise with requesters / departmental contacts to ensure timely resolution of queries
  • Provide status reports to the Supervisor on an agreed basis
