Role & Department Overview

Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.  If you apply for this role the information within your application will be shared with the recruiting organisation.

The Gregson Community and Arts Centre is a community owned, community led charity. The centre was built to ‘serve the needs of the people’ in 1889. Our mission today ‘for people to be in the driving seat of their community events and cultural experiences’ builds on this, and the unique culture that has developed in the centre over decades - as a responsive, grassroots community organisation.

Following a change in business model after the pandemic, the last few years have seen exponential growth for our charity. The building is at the centre of community life once again and busier than ever. We are now home to over 70 creative and community groups, a variety of one-off events, and private hires. Our humble building hosts 3,500 events annually.

Reaching out to new audiences and partners has been a critical ingredient to our success. Now, we are recruiting a Community Engagement and Marketing Assistant to support a Community Open Day in partnership with The Bay Health Festivals. In previous years, this has seen over 200 participants ‘try something new’ at free workshops run by some of our regular groups.

As we approach our third Open Day, we’re keen to get new eyes on the project, bring fresh ideas, and ensure we continue to be an inviting, exciting community space that engages with new audiences across Lancaster and reaches those who currently don’t engage with our work.

Is there something exciting we could be doing?

How can we reach new people?

What have we missed?

With the right candidate's support, we can make this year’s Open Day our busiest and best yet.

Please submit a CV (maximum of two sides) and a Cover Letter (maximum one side) both tailored to the role.
