Role & Department Overview

The Faculty of Science and Technology are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, hardworking and creative individuals into the role of Student Recruitment and Conversion Coordinator. The overall function of this position is to provide a high standard of support to various departments in undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment, conversion and marketing activities, and to play a full role in its development and success. You will organise and be involved in on-campus recruitment activities such as open days and offer holder events and play a key role in delivering the school recruitment and marketing plan in collaboration with academic colleagues. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the school and join a wider Faculty team of colleagues who work in the same type of role for each department/school. 

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate initiative and creativity in a fast moving and challenging environment of student recruitment.  The ability to work on your own initiative and communicate with a range of people from a variety of backgrounds is essential.  The successful candidate will have a varied workload and have supervisory responsibility for a team of department student ambassadors. 

Blended working including a combination of in person office based and remote digital working from home is likely. Occasional evening and weekend work is also required. Training and support will be provided throughout.

Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour plus £1.69 holiday pay

Job Description

Major Duties: 

 

 To provide a high standard of administrative support for all aspects of departments student recruitmentconversion and marketing activityDuties will include: 

 

  • Support the Department in developing creative and cost effective activities and projects to raise the profile and encourage students to apply for and study courses at Lancaster University. 

  • Under the collaborative direction of the UG Recruitment Director and line manager, develop a programme of activities and events to facilitate the recruitment of students as prioritised by the department. 

  • Liaising with departmental colleagues in the organisation of departmental offer holder events and the contribution to University-wide open days.  

  • Liaise and build strong sustainable links with key school contacts, teachers, departmental and wider university colleagues to raise awareness of courses and subject. 

  • To provide support for in-house recruitment events ensuring all logistical arrangements, including room and accommodation bookings, hospitality and travel arrangements are in place. Liaising with the Department safety officer to ensure safety/insurance related issues are in place.  

  • To provide accurate information, advice and guidance to prospective students about courses and the UCAS process.  

  • Support external recruitment activities at schools, other external organisations and HE recruitment events. This includes attending the event(s) if required 

  • To support the departmental website and social media sites within the Department and ensure they are updated at regular intervals liaising with Faculty support as required 

  • To act as secretary for any relevant committees, working closely with the Chair to ensure the effective running of the committee and the follow up of agreed actions.  

  • Collate, organise and prepare suitable material to be used in Departmental recruitment/marketing including print and digital, working closely with relevant academic staff; coordinate and review departmental literature, including monitoring its use and impact, and develop strategies for improvement.  

  • Liaise with artwork designers, photographers and printers as required to ensure high quality publications are produced.  

  • Managing any associated student staff, relating to recruitment activities.  

  • Exploring opportunities to apply for funding to support marketing and recruitment activities.  

  • Any other duties appropriate to the role, as required by the line manager.

Person Specification

 
  • Previous experience of working in marketing, student recruitment or events related capacity and of meeting agreed goals and objectives is essential.
  • Experience of writing content for a range of audiences. For example; marketing materials, web content, reports 
  • Highly effective communication skills with an ability to build relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Experience of successfully organisingmanaging and delivering events for a high number of visitors
  • Understanding the student recruitment journey/process and how this can be effectively measured
  • The ability to present information in an accurate and appropriate format to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work independently and in a team and have a flexible approach to work including evening and/or weekends where required 
  • Sound knowledge of relevant IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience of working in Education with an awareness of wider University/issues affecting student recruitment
  • Experience/willingness to develop and deliver presentations to a range of audiences  
  • Experience of monitoring and analysing data, statistics and performance measurements related to events or activities
  • Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management System
