Role & Department Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.  If you apply for this role the information within your application will be shared with the recruiting organisation.

West End Players is an ambitious, values-driven arts organisation using creativity to transform lives and communities. Since 2017, our Fringe Festival has grown from a two-day event into a three-week programme with 60+ performances across three towns and we’re now expanding into a Bay-wide network.

We believe creativity builds wellbeing, confidence, and connection. We don’t just programme festivals – we create pathways: audiences become participants, participants become creators, and creators develop into professional artists. Alongside our festival, we deliver year-round workshops, regular creative events and community theatre.

Our impact is real: an 80% return rate from touring artists, strong partnerships with emerging creative organisations and a growing role in town-centre regeneration. You’ll join a small, passionate team where your ideas matter, your work has a visible impact and you can help shape the future of the performing arts across our region.

We’re looking for a practical, organised and enthusiastic Production Assistant to support the delivery of our Fringe Festival and year-round creative programme. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves live events, thrives in fast-paced environments and wants hands-on experience in festival and arts production.

You’ll work closely with our small team, artists, venues, and volunteers to help bring performances and creative activity to life across multiple locations. This role is ideal for someone who’s excited by community-led culture, problem-solving on the ground, and being at the heart of a growing festival.
