Role & Department Overview

We are looking for Conferences and and Guest Rooms Assistants to create a welcoming and friendly environment for all visitors, staff and colleagues across campus by working as a flexible member of the team and provide a high standard of customer service.
 
The position will be working within a team of conference coordinators and the guest room receptionist to help ensure the smooth running of our guest rooms, summer accommodation and any other events as business needs demand.
 
Start Date: April 2026 
End Date: Mid September 2026
Location: Lancaster University campus
Working Pattern: 1 day per week during April to June, with more days per week during June to mid September. The candidate needs to be available on evenings and weekends.
 

Job Description

Tasks will typically include:
  • To create a welcoming and friendly environment for all visitors and colleagues across the conference and events business.
  • To assist the team to ensure a consistent, high level of service throughout the customers' time with Lancaster Conferences, Food and Dining and Guest Rooms.
  • To answer customer queries about Guest Rooms and process their bookings (training provided) in a timely manner.
  • To check the bedrooms across campus before the arrival of customers.
  • To cover conference areas during events (training provided).
  • To be available for work in all conference areas as business demands - including evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to demonstrate a strong customer service ethos and the ability to deliver consistently high levels of customer service.
