An exciting opportunity has arisen for four Education Conference Ambassadors to support the delivery of the 2026 Lancaster University Education Conference, taking place over two days (9 hours total + 1 hour training on 15th June 2026) in George Fox, Lancaster Campus:
 
 Tuesday 23rd June 2026
 Wednesday 24th June 2026
 8.45 am - 1.15 pm (4.5 hours each day)

 We are seeking enthusiastic, organised and proactive individuals to support the core CEDA Education Conference Team in delivering a high-quality, professional event experience for both online and in-person participants, both at Lancaster University and its regional and international partners.

As a Conference Ambassador, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the conference and delivering consistently excellent service to the session chair's, presenters and attendees. A key aspect of the role will be to take responsibility for one of four conference rooms, each hosting a series of hybrid presentations/sessions. You will support the coordination and delivery of sessions within your allocated room, ensuring presentations run smoothly and that both online and in-person participants are supported effectively and equitably.

Job Description

  • To support and assist the core CEDA Education Conference Team with the operation and smooth running of the event; delivering consistently good service;
  • To support and assist the conference programme of presentations ensuring equity for both the Online and In Person participants/attendees and speakers
  • To ensure the MS teams “Chat” are monitored and responded to so the presenter(s) respond in an orderly and fair way (Online – monitoring the “chat” in MS Teams relaying questions asked, and In person – working with the Chair to ensure questions from the participant/attendees are put to the presenter(s) at an appropriate opportunity);
  • To support the presenters by ensuring presentations are available and working correctly (from the bank of presentations shared prior to the conference and centrally available) to both online and in person participants/attendees;
  • To work with, and support, the “Chairs” with the smooth running of the presentations;
  • To assist in the setting up and preparation of presentation rooms, posters and other conference materials;
  • To answer any questions participants may have professionally and positively; signposting participants/attendees to the relevant presentation room or colleague(s);
  • To act as an ambassador for the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at the event.
  • To attend the compulsory training session - 15th June 2026;
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Education Conference Lead and Programmes and Events Manager to enhance the conference for participants/attendees.

Person Specification

  • An ability to convey an appropriate rationale and interest in applying for this post.
  • Experience and competency of using a range of Microsoft Office packages including the use of MS Teams, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills in face-to- face and written communications, including the ability to communicate information in a clear and appropriate manner.
  • An ability to develop effective working relationships within the conference team and across a wide range of people attending the conference, both face to face and online, offering a consistent and high standard of customer service.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills with a systematic approach and high concern for quality and service excellence.
  • An ability to set up rooms, put up posters and general preparation to support the conference.
  • Experience of working in a higher education environment setting and an awareness of a diverse audience and cultures with an approach that needs to be taken in this context.
