This micro internship is for 30 hours in total (including 4 hours for training) and is aimed at students who have limited professional prior work experience and are looking for an opportunity that supports them to develop their employability skills.

Role Overview 

This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Procurement Team with a particular focus on sustainable procurement.

The intern will support the Procurement Team by gathering, verifying and recording supplier sustainability information, helping to improve the quality of sustainability data held within the University’s Finance System.

The role will contribute to the University’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives, including responsible sourcing, carbon reduction and ethical supply chain management.

The intern will gain practical experience of working in an office, working with systems and undertaking data input, as well as how sustainability is embedded into real procurement decision-making within a large organisation.

Start Date: 12 March 2026
End Date: 30 April 2026
Working Pattern: 4 hours per week with a preference for hours being completed on Thursday (Minimum 2 hours on a Thursday with flexibility to fit around lectures)
Location: On the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

•  Input sustainability data into the Finance System (Agresso)

•  Collate sustainability credentials from suppliers (e.g. carbon data, certifications, policies and commitments)

•  Assist with data cleansing and improving consistency of existing records

•  Support reporting for internal stakeholders on supplier sustainability performance

•  Review supplier sustainability questionnaires and supporting evidence

•  Contribute ideas for improving how sustainability data is captured and used
