Role & Department Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (FHASS) at Lancaster University.  If you apply for this role the information within your application will be shared with the recruiting organisation.

Escape2Make (E2M) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation that aims to help 11-18s, in the Lancaster & Morecambe area, to escape from boredom, social media, loneliness and any pressure at school or home by providing free creative activities. E2M create safe, kind, welcoming spaces through its creative clubs and 5-week programs that result in community events (such as festivals, cabarets, fairs and markets) that are hosted by local artists and local businesses. All the activities are inclusive and free.

E2M is looking to appoint a FHASS-funded intern to create a collaborative piece of art with young people in March 2026. This can tie in with the intern’s existing work that they’re completing as part of their degree (with prior discussion with their School in FHASS), or they can create a brand-new piece in collaboration with E2M.

E2M want the student intern to bring their passion, interest, and practice to our organisation.

E2M are keen to provide the successful applicant with opportunities to meet and network with other local creative organisations and individuals, which will hopefully boost their future employment prospects.

E2M would love to welcome the intern into their creative space, positioned in the centre of Lancaster. The space was designed by local young people, under the guidance of local artists. Their building is at 56 Church Street, LA1 1LH.

Preferred Start Date: 2 March 2026
End Date: 3 April 2026
Interview Date: 18 February 2026
Working Pattern: 10-20 hours / week over 4-5 weeks, max 70 hours total, hours by agreement between the successful candidate and E2M.
