Role & Department Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.  If you apply for this role the information within your application will be shared with the recruiting organisation.

Giving HOPE (Hold On, Pain Eases) is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to reducing the trauma experienced by mothers and babies separated close to birth due to safeguarding concerns.

Underpinned by the Born into Care research series led by Lancaster University, they work to raise awareness and promote trauma-informed, compassionate practice to help ensure that, wherever it is safe, babies remain with their families.

When this is not possible, they strive to ensure that separation is handled with care, dignity, and humanity, recognising its profound and lasting impact on all those involved. Through the implementation of their HOPE Boxes, they support practitioners across Health and Social Care in offering more compassionate, responsive care that prioritises connection, sensitivity, and emotional wellbeing. Their aim is to minimise trauma for everyone affected and achieve the best possible outcomes for both mother and baby.

Guided by research and those with lived experience, they work to drive meaningful change in policy and practice.

The Giving HOPE Project has a range of video content that needs editing for various uses, such as their website, and different levels of training.  They are also developing a new training offer based on service development in a new area and there may be an opportunity for the intern to be involved with this work too.

Please submit a CV (maximum of two sides) and a Cover Letter (maximum one side) both tailored to the role.
