Are you looking for a rewarding job that makes a real difference? Lancaster University is looking for enthusiastic and reliable student telephone fundraisers to help build connections with our alumni and raise vital funds for life-changing opportunities for our students.

Role Overview: This role has two main aims:

  • Raising funds: To raise money for Lancaster University to be able to provide a range of life-changing opportunities for our students.
  • Building relationships: Strengthening the connection between Lancaster University and our graduates.

As a telephone fundraiser, you'll have the chance to engage in meaningful conversations with alumni, ask for support, and contribute to the ongoing success of Lancaster University.

 
Preferred start date: 7th February 2026
Expected end date: 8th of March 2026
Location: On the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

  • Support Fundraising: Communicate our fundraising goals and ask alumni for donations to support students and university initiatives.
  • Show Gratitude: Thank current donors for their generosity and remind alumni of the benefits of staying connected to Lancaster University.
  • Engage with Alumni: Build closer relationships by talking to alumni about their lives and perhaps even receive advice on your future career.
  • Promote University Events: Inform alumni about upcoming events and gather feedback on past events.

Campaign Dates:

  • Campaign Duration: 9th February – 8th March 2025
  • Training Dates: 7-8th February (2 days)
  • Calling Times:
    • Weekdays: 6:15pm - 9:30pm
    • Saturdays: 9:45am - 5:00pm
    • Sundays: 1:45pm - 8:00pm

Availability Requirements:

  • Applicants must be available for both training days and at least two weekday shifts and one weekend shift per week.

Person Specification

We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Current Lancaster University student (UG or PG) for the 2024/2025 academic year.
  • Passionate about Lancaster University and the aims of our fundraising activity.
  • Excellent communication skills: Able to speak clearly and enthusiastically to a wide range of people.
  • Confident telephone manner: Able to build rapport and engage alumni in interesting conversations.
  • Reliable and well-organised: Capable of balancing work and study commitments.
  • Team player with a positive attitude: Ready to adapt to different situations.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willingness to ask for financial support from alumni.

No Experience Necessary: Full training will be provided, prior fundraising or sales experience is not required.
