Role & Department Overview

The Faculty of Health and Medicine (FHM) is looking for students to join our team of student content creators. Working collaboratively with our marketing and student recruitment team, you will create authentic content about your programme and department, whilst representing University values.

We’re looking to work with the best creative digital content producers who keep themselves up to date with trends in digital storytelling.

The content our creators produce will be posted on social media channels and website, and disseminated through a variety of means. All the content that you make will be credited to you and can be linked to your own socials if you choose.

Note: these positions are only open to students studying either in Biomedical and Life Sciences or Sports and Exercise Science.

Job Description

How you’ll work

You will work on average 12 hours per month/ 3 hours per week, working to specific briefs on a project-by-project basis as well as potentially creating quick social media posts for departments if required.

Projects will be agreed ahead of time and could be, for example: interviewing students about their course, doing an Instagram story to cover an event, creating a video diary/blog etc. You will be representing your subject area - the stories you tell will be about your courses and what it is like to study at Lancaster.


What we expect

  • Produce engaging, honest digital content to help prospective students decide if studying with the Faculty of Health and Medicine is right for them.
  • Around 3 hours a week working on projects (either on your own or as part of a team) – though this is flexible
  • Create content to meet fixed deadlines and to an agreed brief.
  • Adhere to our brand guidelines and house style, whilst showing your own creativity and content style.
  • Come forward with suggestions and ideas for engaging content.
  • Take part in induction and training.
  • Participate in an MS Teams channel and actively liaise with other content creators in the team.

Person Specification

  • Experience of creating engaging digital content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
  • Experience and technical skills in all stages of content creation from concept development and planning through to content capturing, editing and posting. Primarily experience creating and editing video content.
  • Understanding of social media and what makes for engaging content.
  • Understanding of the target audience (for undergraduate courses, this is typically 15-18 year olds)
  • Enthusiastic attitude about your studies
  • Excellent communication skills
