This micro internship is for 30 hours in total (including 4 hours for training) and is aimed at students who have limited professional prior work experience and are looking for an opportunity that supports them to develop their employability skills.

GROW Your Future is an opt-in scheme for UK undergraduates and postgraduate taught students who also meet specific Widening Participation criteria, e.g. students who are:

As stated above, the GROW Your Future Micro Internship Scheme aims to support students with limited professional work experience, therefore priority will be given to students who meet this criteria. This includes students who may have already completed a GYF micro internship.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on research experience at the cutting edge of educational technology and policy development. As the GenAI in HE Project Intern, you will support the Academic Quality, Standards and Conduct team in conducting comparative research into how universities across the UK and internationally are approaching the area of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in teaching, learning, and assessment - and beyond! You will develop valuable research, analytical, and communication skills while contributing to an important institutional project that will help shape how Lancaster University responds to emerging GenAI technologies in education.

Start Date: 24th November 2025
End Date: 28th February 2026
Working Pattern: 6 hours per week
Location: On Campus and Remote
 
 

Job Description

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting desk-based research to identify UK and international universities with published GenAI policies and guidance.
  • Systematically collecting and cataloguing policy documents, frameworks, teaching guidance, and student-facing resources from various institutions.
  • Creating an indexed resource repository/bibliography of materials gathered for future reference.
  • Reviewing and analysing materials to identify common themes, divergent approaches, and innovative practices across the sector.
  • Supporting the Academic Quality, Standards and Conduct team with project coordination and documentation, and in synthesising findings into a clear written report that highlights key themes, good practice examples, and emerging sector trends.

Support and Development:

You will be working alongside the Academic Quality, Standards and Conduct team, you will have training opportunities and will be fully supported with regular supervision and guidance on the task in hand.

 

Person Specification

  • A curious and motivated student with a general interest in educational technology, GenAI, or policy development.
  • Good research skills and a strong attention to detail, with the ability to find and evaluate information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent organisational skills for managing and categorising diverse materials systematically.
  • Confident digital literacy and an ability to navigate university websites and document repositories.
  • No prior experience in policy analysis or Gen AI required - just enthusiasm and a commitment to producing high-quality work!
