Role & Department Overview

The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is looking for someone to provide hands-on support following a large office relocation project. The post is for a total of 30 hours and can be worked flexibly during the working week.
A major part of the role will sorting through items in the newly established PGR hub, and unpacking archive material with the faculty so this post will be ideal for a FHASS PGR student.
 
Start Date: 29th October 2025
End Date: 30th November 2025
Location: On Campus
Working Pattern: Flexible, 30 Hours in Total

Job Description

Assisting with post-move logistics, tasks will typically include:
  • Unpacking books from crates into offices 
  • Unpacking and sorting through material within Schools, Research Centres and the PGR Hub
  • Packing up and labelling items for archiving and longer-term storage
  • Checking and sorting through Faculty PhD theses archives
  • Identifying where unwanted office items could be reused, recycled or disposed of in a sustainable way
  • Supporting the Faculty Resource Manager in post-move activity

Person Specification

Essential
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Organised with a methodical approach to detail
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Comfortable with physical work, including lifting items onto a trolley
