Role & Department Overview

The Recruitment and Admissions division within Lancaster University's External Relations department are seeking 8 new International Student Ambassadors (ISA's) to join their current ISA team. 

The Recruitment and Admissions division are responsible for attracting and recruiting the best students from the UK and overseas to Lancaster University. The role of ISA is paramount to the University's international recruitment efforts and helps provide invaluable informal, peer-led support and guidance to prospective overseas students and other stakeholders, including parents, agents, schools, and overseas partners.

As an ISA, you will be required to work a minimum of 1 hour per week during term-time from the Welcome Centre on-campus, contacting offer holders from the region(s) to have been assigned to. You will also automatically be added to our general pool of Student Ambassadors, meaning that you will be able to pick up other available shifts should you wish, including open days, offer holder events, campus tours, digital events, school visits, airport arrivals, etc. 

We are specifically looking for ISA's from the following regions/countries only. Please do not apply if you do not fit the criteria outlined below as the roles require fluent language skills and relative perspective relating to the regions/countries and level of study highlighted:

  • South East Asia - Undergraduate - Studying within any Dept : x1 position available

Job Description

Job Purpose: 

    • To promote and enhance the reputation of Lancaster University to prospective students and other parties/stakeholders. 
    • To provide dedicated support to students who have made an application and who are holding an offer of study at Lancaster University.
 

Major Duties: 

    • To contact prospective Lancaster students (generally offer holders) from overseas by email, telephone and online/social media platforms, and to respond to their queries to provide information about Lancaster University and life and study in the UK from an international student perspective. 
    • To assist with on-campus events to support international student recruitment and conversion, e.g. carrying out campus tours for prospective students/their families/other international visitors, participating in on-campus meetings/fairs/focus groups/conferences, sharing country-specific market intelligence with Recruitment & Admissions staff. 
    • To assist with online/digital events to support international student recruitment and conversion, e.g. student panel events, presentations, recruitment fairs, school/agent events. 
    • To assist with in-country activities whilst back in home country, e.g. visiting schools/universities to give talks & presentations, attending overseas recruitment fairs, alumni and pre-departure events.
    •  Optional participation in domestic student recruitment events, including open days, offer holder events, campus tours, school visits, etc.
    •  Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the GRO, including occasional office-based administrative work, freight packing, translation & interpretation work.
  • Time Commitment: 

Standard hours per week: 1 (minimum), Duration: Until 28th September 2026 (may be extended)

Person Specification
