Role & Department Overview

  • To support the global engagement team on the research project which is funded by British Council
  • To complete the data collection on 44 UK-China universities for: student number, running programmes, current cohort information etc.
  • To complete the data analysing after the data collection.
  • To support general administrative duties where required.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Global Engagement team.

Working Pattern: 30 Hours Per Week

Job Description

As part of the Global Engagement, the Research Project Assistant will be responsible for the data process on ‘Go Global’ funding projects. The role will be involved with the following three project phases:

Project phase one:

  • Study set up, including preparation of ethics.
  • Collection of publicly available data on UK-China Joint Institute Alliance (JIA) member universities for student number, running programmes, current cohort information etc.

    Project phase two:

  • Data collection (interviews), inputting and analysis, and associated planning, preparation, data management/transfer and administrative activities in line with relevant policies and standards

    Project phase three:

    • Assistant P-I and Co-I on project presentation at the JIA UK Member Conference

    The role will provide dedicated and focused engagement of this British Council project.  A portfolio of work and knowledge of higher education and culture is required to effectively data collection from stakeholders in the UK and China.

    You will be able to engage easily with and tailor communication for people from diverse backgrounds. You should be highly focused and reliable, with flexibility in your working hours, organised, accurate and conscientious in your work. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Good team working skills and the ability to liaise in sensitive situations are also required. You will need to be able to work independently and show initiative.
