You must be studying at Lancaster University on our Lancaster campus in 2025/26 to be eligible for this role.   

 

Ever seen a piece of content on the Lancaster University social media channels created by a student and thought ‘I’d love to do that job’? Now is your opportunity to apply, as we’re recruiting for the 2025/26 University central Marketing Office’s Student Content Creator Team. 

This team will be comprised of current undergraduate and postgraduate Lancaster University students who will create content that showcases their student life here including filming and editing videos, writing blogs, and photography  

Content may be shared on the following channels (this list is not exhaustive): University social media channels, website, email communications, and third-party websites (like UCAS, The Student Room, and others)  

It’s very important to us that this team is representative of Lancaster’s diverse student community and we welcome applications from students in all years of study including those on postgraduate taught and research programmes  

All content you produce as part of this team will be owned by Lancaster University but credited to you if and when we use it. Credit will be in the form of your name and/or social media handle.  

Preferred start date: 20/10/2025

 Expected end date: 12/10/2026

 Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

The Marketing Office's Student Content Creators are primarily tasked with creating content for social media, writing blogs, and providing written and video testimonials. There may also be other opportunities as part of the role, such as covering events like Roses and open days on our Instagram story and featuring in film and photography projects. 

We will hold an initial induction meeting in first term. This will provide the opportunity for the team to meet each other and is where we’ll outline the responsibilities and expectations of the role and give guidance including best practice.  

Following this, the team will receive access to a content planner that details content requests and creative briefs for each month of the year, and we also encourage students to pitch content ideas.  

There will be a dedicated Teams space along with further meetings that will provide the opportunity for the team to collaborate and brainstorm ideas based on set themes.

Person Specification

Does this sound like you? 

You love scrolling social media and watching videos and are confident in front and behind the camera, with skills in filming and editing video and a passion for social media trends. 

 You love creative writing and have proven experience of writing engaging content.  

 You love Lancaster University and want to share your experience with the world.
