Lancaster Conferences & Hospitality are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals to join their team in the role of Hospitality and Conference assistant to work during the next academic year. This role is a great opportunity to build customer service skills and development within food delivery, conference and events.
We are looking for team members who are passionate about delivering a constant high standard of customer service and who can work in a high pressured environment. You will be required to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. 

The Team operate all year-round delivery of hospitality for university meetings, conferences and events and student college activities, at venues across campus including the Lancaster Conference Centre, Forrest Hills and at the Castle in Lancaster. We also operate 80 Guest Rooms.  

During vacation times the Team host larger events for up to 800 people including day and residential conferences.

Expected end date: 1st of July 2026

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
 
  • To provide an excellent customer service to both internal and external visitors, staff and students.
  • To maintain a consistency of standards by following our University and Departmental processes and policies.
  • To set-up, prepare, serve and deliver food and beverages in line with departmental procedures across the Lancaster
  • University Campus and Venues.
  • To correctly use equipment in line with departmental procedures.
  • To complete daily cleaning schedules and carry out other cleaning duties as required.
  • To work within EHO, COSHH and Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • To wear uniforms at all times in line with departmental policy.
  • To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, and work in a clean and tidy manner.
  • To complete relevant training courses as directed by the senior manager.

Person Specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
 
  •  Can demonstrate a strong customer service experience and ethos and proven ability to deliver consistently high levels of service standards
  • Evidence of working in a team effectively
  • Ability to adapt to changing working demands
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Able to work flexibly on a rota basis to include evenings and weekends
  • Able to undertake physical lifting and manual tasks
  • Proven Reliability and Responsibility
