Role & Department Overview

We are seeking several energetic, enthusiastic and passionate Baristas to work part time in our busy Costa Coffee outlet starting in welcome week and throughout the academic year during term time

This is an incredibly customer focused role in a busy unit and will require hard work, dedication and a fun loving personality. Hours are worked on a weekly rota and include some early evenings and weekends.

You will need to have high levels of attention to detail and be able to follow brand standards in coffee production.

Previous experience in a costa outlet is desirable but not essential as training to the highest standard will be provided.

Job Description

  • To maintain excellent customer relations and to constantly strive to improve customer service in line with departmental policy
  • To operate cash registers in line with departmental and costa coffee regulations
  • Preparation and/or service of food and beverages in line with departmental and costa coffee procedures
  • To correctly use equipment in line with departmental procedures
  • To work within EHO, COSHH and Health and Safety Guidelines
  • To complete daily cleaning schedules and carry out other cleaning duties as required
  • To wear uniforms at all times in-line with costa coffee policy
  • To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, and work in a clean and tidy manner
  • To attend relevant training courses as directed by the senior store manager
  • All work to be carried out with a customer focused attitude, providing excellent customer service with a proactive work ethic
  • At all times to carry out ones responsibilities with due regard to the university’s codes of practice on Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety and adhere to the Data Protection Act
  • Must have a flexible approach to working

Person Specification

  • Experience of food preparation and/or service, or working in café, bar, restaurant or other retail environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to undertake physical lifting
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Proven reliability and responsibility
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Interest in developing a career in the food, beverage and retail industry
