Role & Department Overview

The Don’t Ditch It (DDI) Project is a long-standing annual project at Lancaster University which aims to divert unwanted household items from disposal at the end of the academic year through the redistribution to charity partners and returning students. The Team Member is responsible for collecting, sorting and donating items throughout the scheme. 
 
Preferred start date: 4th of September 2025
 
Expected end date: 17th of October 2025

Interview date: 3rd of September 2025
 
Weekly hours: 15-20 per week
 
Location: On the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
 
  • Work as part of a team to promote the project, encouraging students to donate unwanted items.
  •  Assist in the collection, sorting and recording of donations at designated collection sites, such as the Eco-Hub.
  • Support charity partners in collecting sorted items.
  • Help operate the Eco-Market, engaging with students to redistribute upcycled goods.
  • Follow Health & Safety guidelines, including manual handling protocols.
  • Attend project training and induction sessions.
