Are you an aspiring developer? The IT Partnering and Innovation (ITPI) team in Information Systems Services (ISS) is looking for a talented Junior Front End Developer to support their development on iLancaster and other exciting projects. In this fast-paced environment, you will work on mobile applications and other technologies to enhance the student experience and research opportunities. This is a unique chance to work whilst studying, which will give you a competitive edge in your future career.

Job Description

As a Junior Front-End Developer, your main responsibilities will include:
 
  • Supporting the team in new project-based application development.

  • Participating in the Agile process to contribute to the continuous improvement of existing services.

  • Taking responsibility for the testing phase of new and existing applications, including coordinating with team members to ensure effective testing procedures.

  • Focusing on front-end development, with an emphasis on React and React Native technologies

Person Specification

Essential (Please reference in your covering letter):

  • Experience with front-end development languages such as React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take initiative when required.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving clear goals.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to plan, organise and tackle complex challenges.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
Desirable:
  • Proficiency in best practices for modern JavaScript applications.

  • Knowledge of HTML with a focus on accessibility.

  • Familiarity with unit testing and test-driven design principles.

  • Experience with source control systems.
