Role & Department Overview

This work will contribute to an ongoing significant investment in digital technology innovation with small to medium sized enterprises (SME’s) in the Northwest of England: The Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI, https://centrefordigitalinnovation.ac.uk/). As part of the project you will work closely with an industry partner and receive support from the CDI team across the School of Engineering and the School of Computing and Communications that is working on R&D challenges that bridge between academia and industry. This internship is specifically looking for a student who can assist in the development of an online resource to allow non-technical or users unfamiliar with additive manufacturing (AM) technologies to navigate the options available through curated case studies, vendors and mentors.
This internship is offered as part of a programme of opportunities for Lancaster University students and will be supervised by a member of staff and a representative from the business. The working pattern is a flexible one up to 37 hours per week to be arranged with the company.
 

Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour plus £1.47 holiday pay

Start Date: 1st July 2025

End Date: 29th August 2025

 
 

Job Description

Currently still offline and under construction, the role will be in two stages. The first is to proofread and fact check the pre-launch case studies relating to additive manufacture, currently on the company’s offline website. This will include spell checking, remove American English and check for anomalies in the case studies.

The second stage will be post-launch and will include fielding new contacts from the website, correcting errors identified and curating new case studies submitted. 

Person Specification

An interest in AM and the dissemination of AM to a wider audience. Experience of AM processes is preferred but more important is attention to detail and excellent communication and organisation skills.
