ISS, Information Systems Services, are looking for four proactive and driven individuals to join our Service Desk Team.
As an ISS Service Desk Assistant you will assist in providing first-line support for the eduroam WiFi network and IT accounts as well as familiarising staff with Windows 11 via in-person appointments. You will be expected to answer questions, look for solutions to problems and pass on more complex issues where necessary. You will work alongside other members of the ISS Service Desk and Campus IT Engineers to proactively resolve customer queries. You will gain experience of working with eduroam, IT accounts, Windows 11 and some of the other IT systems we provide, improve your problem-solving capabilities and have the opportunity to undertake training.
Successful candidates must be available during Arrivals Weekend (Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September) and for the duration of Welcome Week (w/c 29th September).
Tasks will include:
- Triaging and troubleshooting eduroam and WiFi queries as part of a first-line support desk.
- Explaining technical solutions in a non-technical manner.
- Communicating with students, staff and visitors to the University who will have a range of technical fluency.
- Providing in-person appointments as part of the Windows 11 rollout and supporting staff with using OneDrive, installing software and other University IT services.
- Maintaining excellent levels of customer service.
- Working as part of a team and escalating complex queries to technical colleagues.
