The Employment and Recruitment Service (ERS) recruit for a range of part-time and temporary positions at Lancaster University and within the local community.

The ERS is designed to provide students with part-time opportunities that can benefit them both financially and allow them to gain valuable work experience. As an Intern, you will support the ERS team by focusing on the student experience to promote the Service and its wide-ranging benefits.

Our aim is to help Lancaster University students develop employment skills through a variety work opportunities.

Working as Recruitment Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the ERS team on a high volume of recruitment. This is a hybrid role, and you will be working on Campus as well as remotely.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys liaising with customers or clients, with good administration and organisation skills, who also has a keen eye for detail! 

Training will be provided to support you in learning the skills required in the role. The professional skills you will develop working with the team will be highly transferable to future graduate employment.

Job Description

Main responsibilities: 

  • Responding to queries (face-to-face, telephone and by email)

  • Supporting the ERS team on recruitment administration, systems maintenance and accurate record keeping

  • Representing the team at the ERS Drop-In sessions and representing the team at departmental meetings

  • Liaising professionally with Hiring Managers across the University as well as engaging with students and external stakeholders

  • Playing a key role in event organisation, building relationships with the external business community

  • Conduct Right to Work appointments for new starters to the Employment & Recruitment Service, ensuring an effective, efficient and compliant checking of documentation takes place for the purposes of Right to Work

  • Provide a short induction for new starters at the time of the appointment

  • Creating content and maintaining the social media accounts, which provide important information about work opportunities

  • Managing social media campaigns, and developing ERS brand across campus, as well as creating other promotional material that might be needed

  • Gathering student and graduate feedback and creating content outlining the benefits of using the Service

  • Development of engagement strategies to increase service visibility and continuous growth

  • Maintenance and development of ERS channels including website

Person Specification

 Essential

  • Current Lancaster University student to engage on a placement year during the academic year 2025-2026
  • Good Organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Competent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Reliability, and the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Accurate, organised and methodical approach to work
  • A confident telephone manner
  • Ability to design the creative elements and start to deliver social media content using existing brand guidelines.
  • Creativity and understanding of student life and engagement strategies

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a front-desk, customer facing environment
  • Some experience and/or understanding of marketing.
  • Social media experience and/or interest and ideally knowledge of influencing styles and potential new platforms for use such as TikTok
