These internships are being hosted by the Lancaster School of Architecture in partnership with The Society of the Protection of Ancient Buildings and Crosby Granger Architects.

The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) believes old buildings have a future. From cottages to castles and from churches to cathedrals, SPAB works to help buildings and the people who care for them. Through their unique training schemes, courses, advice and research they help people put their expertise into practice.
Crosby Granger Architects were established on a foundation of experience gained through working in specialist fields of architecture. They are committed to the design of new and repair of old buildings and structures while offering their clients an individual, dedicated working relationship from start to finish.
These internships are creative roles that will involve observation, surveying, recording and assessing an Arts & Crafts building on Lancaster University Campus. These are a unique opportunities for students with an interest in heritage structures to work with key stakeholders - The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, Architects - Crosby Granger Architects, and Architects / Academics at Lancaster School of Architecture.
The Arts & Crafts Building, Bailrigg House, is currently occupied by Lancaster School of Architecture and is due to undergo a maintenance programme. The successful candidates will be contributing to an understanding of this heritage asset that will form a basis for the future restoration and occupancy plans.

Working Pattern: 70 hours total over a two-week period in August 2025. Hours by agreement between the successful candidates and Lancaster School of Architecture and partners (e.g. SPAB).
