Role & Department Overview

Please note: this internship is only available to current students registered on a degree scheme in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.

We are looking for a creative Events Coordinator to assist with running a ‘celebration of the faculty’ event that is being held on Thursday 3rd July. This internship will involve undertaking administrative planning aspects of event coordination, the opportunity to curate an exhibition, as well as being responsible for marketing and promotion activities.

You will be working with various stakeholders, including faculty members of staff, departmental academic colleagues, and central services as part of this role. Additionally, should the post holder wish or have the necessary skills, there will be the opportunity to undertake design work, in the form of posters and a brochure (plus more if needed!). As well as the opportunity to utilise technical skills for the exhibition, for example in the form of digital media.

Closing Date: 27 April 2025

Start Date: TBC week commencing 26th May

End Date:  TBC July

Interview:  TBC week commencing 19th May

Location: Hybrid remote and on campus

Working Pattern / Hours per week:  Flexible up to 40 hours in total

Job Description

Main duties include:
  • Event organisation – including room booking, catering, numbers collation, and any other general related event administrative tasks.
  • Marketing – creating marketing materials, and utilising promotion activities where required.
  • Curation – contacting, collecting and organising relevant materials for the exhibition.
  • Stakeholder relationships – working with Lancaster University colleagues to capture experiences and materials for the exhibition.
  • Event – helping to set up the event and being present whilst the event is taking place to troubleshoot and help oversee the successful running.
  • Additional – further hours can be given to design or technical work as needed.
