The Global Summer Schools offer interactive learning experiences for international students from universities worldwide, with classes and field trips during the day, social activities in the evenings, and weekend trips around the UK.

Rate of Pay: £11.44 + £1.38 holiday pay

 

Working dates of the Global Summer Schools include Monday 7 July – Friday 25 July 2025 (session one) and Monday 25 August – Friday 12 September 2025 (session two). Successful candidates must be available to work flexible hours including daytime, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis. Work may be heavier during some weeks of theprogrammes and hours will be agreed with candidates individually. 

 

Advertising end date:  Tuesday 6 May 2025

Interviews:Expected to take place on Friday 16 May 2025 and will include a group assessment task.

 
Initial training: Expected to take place on Friday 23 May 2025.
 
Final briefing: Expected to take place on Thursday 3 July 2025.

Job Description

MAIN DUTIES:
  • Be the first point of contact for visiting students and staff.
  • Work as part of a team, lead team building and community activities.
  • Motivate, engage with, and enthuse groups of students.
  • Guide students to sessions according to their schedule.
  • Assist in the coordination of evening and weekend activities. 
  • Encourage interaction between students from various countries.
  • Provide administrative support such as photocopying and filing paperwork, taking student registers etc.
  • Supervise students during field trips, city and weekend trips across the UK, and take part in activities.
  • Assist the Global Experiences Officer and Global Experiences Coordinator in further duties during busy periods.

Person Specification

 The following criteria are essential when applying for this role, and will be tested through your CV, covering letter and interview process: 

 

    • Currently undertaking a Lancaster University degree, or graduated from Lancaster University in the last two years.
    •  Good communication skills with the ability to relate to, and communicate effectively with, students and young people from different cultures.
      • Ability and willingness to motivate and support students in delivering successful projects.

      • Flexible in working a variety of shifts and adaptable to working with a range of people on a range of tasks in large groups.

      • Can plan and run events, with ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative.

      • Can travel within the UK for field and weekend trips.
