The Student Programme Administration Exams Team are currently recruiting a pool of Invigilators to join our bank of staff supporting the administration of examinations for the 2025 assessment period that runs from 28 April to 20 June (at the latest).
Examinations take place across Lancaster’s Bailrigg campus and you may be required to travel quickly between venues to ensure that examination schedules are adhered to.
Full-time and part-time/casual applicants are welcome.
No prior experience is required as training will be provided, however, candidates with previous experience of working in Higher Education or with invigilation experience will be prioritised.
Invigilators – Main Venues
As an Invigilator you will work as part of a team to ensure that examinations run smoothly and in accordance with Lancaster University guidelines. Ideal candidates will be committed team players and have a professional attitude.
In addition to our main venues, we also seek invigilators to work with students with adapted exam requirements.
Invigilators - Adapted Arrangement
For this role we are looking for invigilators to work with students with adapted exam requirements – this will primarily involve invigilating individual students on a one-to-one basis or invigilating a small group of students, or those who require access to a computer.
Please indicate on your application whether you would like to be considered for either main venue invigilation, adapted arrangement invigilation, or both.
Key Information:
Invigilators are appointed on temporary contracts with no guarantee of hours.
The pay rate for the academic year is Spinal Point 5, which is currently £13.35 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay). This rate will increase in April, but the increased rates are not yet known.
There will be a mandatory training session on Wednesday 26th March, 14:00-15:00, and the completion of an online assessment will be required for both new applicants and returning invigilators.
