Impactful Lives is a charity which supports the physical and mental health of LGBTQ+ persons suffering from stigma, bias or disability, by the provision of Mentoring and Counselling, and the promotion of equality and diversity.

We have had previous research conducted by our Asset-Locked organisation over the past 4 years and now need to challenge the content and findings of the CASS report, based on real-life experiences of LGBTQ+ people living or working in Hertfordshire.

We are recruiting an LGBTQ+ Researcher intern to read and interpret the CASS Report, then conduct research via interviews and focus groups, to ascertain how the report has affected LGBTQ+ people in Hertfordshire, and explore alternative solutions.

Preferred start date: W/C.24th of March 2025

Expected end date: 31st of July 2025

Interview date: 11th of March 2025 

Location: Entirely remotely (in the UK)

Weekly hours:To be agreed before commencement, up to a max. of 70 hours in total

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
 
  • Research on “How the CASS report effects LGBTQ+ people, its implications and alternatives “
  • Working with our sister organisation where LGBTQ+ research on Hertfordshire people has been undertaken during 2021, 22, 23 & 24.
  • You will be responsible for reading and interpreting the existing CASS Report.
  • You will make contact with our LGBTQ+ people in Hertfordshire (from our existing database).
  • Conduct interviews and/or focus groups to establish how the CASS report has affected LGBTQ+ people and their immediate families.
  • Explore alternative solutions that will help Trans or non-binary people in Hertfordshire.
  • Make recommendations on solutions based on evidence and alternatives considered.

Person Specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following: 
 
  • A knowledge of the CASS report and its ramifications would be desirable. 
  • Good time keeping.
  • Works well solo or within a team.
  • Able to form good customer relationships.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of LGBTQ+ audiences
  • Able to contribute to marketing, publicity and sales campaign materials.
